The comments might duplicate perhaps long-ago posts on the Forum, but the current build has people talking "thong" or "no thong."

I carried a large Stanaback Special for several years, I kept the WT lanyard tucked under the keeper strap to minimize errant catching on things.

Also, when I used it, I generally tucked the paracord under fingers or one finger if I needed to improve my grip on the knife.

The points about slow-to-deploy (not trivial to loop cord around wrist if in a hurry or other hand is occupied) and no-one-handed-recovery are valid.

Good points there.

I found that on My old style Model 8 that I use the most,that I don't "loop" the thongs so that it won't snag on anything.

Sure as heck,if branches.briar have any chance they will tangle up with the loop.

If we look at this another way, the wrist thong option is not really about a thong, but about a lined hole (plus a few cents worth of paracord). With the hole installed, you can choose either to thread a thong through, or NOT use a thong. If threaded, your options are either to loop, or to avoid looping by tying, braiding, or something else.
So, having a thong hole offers more possibilities than not having one.
(That said, I prefer having the hole, then choosing whether or not to use it.)

I agree with Steve, other than maybe some people don't like to have the hole there.

But this is a group build and totally democratic.

ON most of my Randall Knives I have the thong hole but most of the time,other than using that to hang the knioves in the safe,I don't use it.

As always,it is a matter of choice.

I posted-n-pasted a thread on "How to tie a wrist thong" atop the main page. I use my wrist thong..."EXACTLY" the way Bo showed me!

The Captain probably uses his RMK's more that several of us put together.

Apart from preference in appearance, it makes sense to get the WT option when ordering a knife.

If you have it and want it, you got it.

And whenever the knife is passed on, the buyer might prefer the WT.

It is a lot of hassle to send a knife back to the shop to get it done!

Which makes me go back to the build and see how I voted!
