SCAGEL COPY ? FIXED BLADE HUNTER W/ A FOLDING BLADE IN THE HANDLE

I just bought this on Ebay. It turns out to be a Very Old Vintage Fixed Blade Hunting Knife with a Folding Blade in the Handle. The Fixed Blade is 5-3/8" long, and the Folding Blade is 2-3/8" long. The Scales are Elk Horn. The Scale next to the Folding Blade is Copper backed. The Silver Arrowheads on the Sheath and the knife's handle are securely riveted in place with Silver rivets. Everything on this knife is still "tight as new" and the Blades are still "shaving sharp".

The Sheath with this knife is Original and makes an excellent display companion, but the leather is too deteriorated and weakened to carry the knife safely. The Large Silver Arrowhead is in still in very good condition. There are no markings anywhere on the Blade that would identify the maker. The James Julia auction listing tells of a 1939 letter that Scagel sent Bo Randall challenging him to try to make such a knife. Perhaps this is the knife that Bo made.

An Original Scagel Knife like this sold in 2012 at the James Julia auction for over $28,000 (see below link)

Below are the highlights of the Ebay listing.

as always, comments are welcome

I will pass the photo to some who might be able to shed light.

I like it even if it is an unknown maker.

Nice knife! It reminds me a lot of old German knives. They used to have extra tools in the handles. What's strange is that usually everyone, including Skagel, has the folding knife inserted from the belly side of the handle, not the spine

Yes, I noticed the difference of the folding blade from the spine. From a practical sense, it seems to work better from this side as it avoids the cutting edge of the fixed blade.
