Thats a beauty Steve.....

I had the chance to rent this Grigg for a while. One of the best knives I have ever owned. Ken Hurst engraved and Rick Bowles scrim.

That's a looker!!

The guy I bought it from got my number from a mutual friend. He had bought it 30+ years ago. After talkin a bit.... come to find out, he's the dad of a good friend I went to High School with that lived 2 blocks from me in middle/high school in the 70's before I moved to NuAwlins. I hadn't seen him in 40 or so years when his kids were sneaking out at night to party.... and he caught us!!!

Not sure. Could not find any markings and have not passed Sheath History 101 yet. What do I look for?

Oh no.... that one might have even hit me between the eyes... No markings even close or at all, inside or outside. Stitching however is similar and sheath is of very good quality. Will take/post additional sheath pictures. Back has 2 slits for belt to go through not a single belt loop.

Thanks!!

It's not the original sheath Steve. The Johnson sheaths' sold at the shop along with Walt's knives, had the Randall stamp and knife size on the back. If your knife is Walt's large size (and it looks like it is) there would have been a G 4 stamped on it. Also. No slit back loop.
Best, Capt. Chris

Have no history here. Did he sell any knives after he left the shop? Will post pic's on Monday. Someone may know the sheath maker.. Thanks!

Looks like a "Browning" folder pouch sheath to me. Most had "Browning" stamped on them (I think) but several different knives came in this type of sheath.
Hope this helps, Capt. Chris

I had an LL Bean knife once that came with a sheath just like that. It was a copy of the Remington Bullet.

Just came across this post and wanted to share mine. Nicely aged Ivory and the original "no stamp" sheath. I did pick up another Randall stamped sheath for a back-up, but it doesn't fit as nicely as the original one does!

The Randall/Johnson sheath doesn't fit nearly as nice as the rounded sheath that originally came with my knife. I believe that it was probably one of the knives produced shortly after Walter leaving the Randall shop to set out on his own, or after they ceased doing business together.

I purchased the G4 sheath after the fact, just to have a Johnson sheath to go with it... for the purists! lol

After speaking to someone on here last night, I thought that I would bring this thread back into prominence. Walter Grigg folders do not seem to get the respect that they deserve!

I love 'em!

Rod, this is not as nice as the Leschorn, but it's another scrimmed Grigg. Bowles scrim, Ken Hurst engraving.

Buckspen... I could store that knife if you need to make some room!!

Maybe not a Leschorn, but nothing to sneeze at either. I would be very happy to have that in my collection.
