Capt. If your into serious hunting look into a Mystery Ranch or Kifaru pack. MR is the best for hunting. Plus you can have Pals webbing on the waistbelt and have your pistol on it or whatever else you need.

PS. My Mystery Ranch packs have a elastic band on the strap near the top, that combined with the 550 tie would be a pretty good securement method I would think!
