I just got a new Reese Bose Rodgers Whittler. I recently changed the direction of my knife collection from custom tacticals to whittler pattern knives and boy was I lucky to start with this! The Reese Bose Whittler is flawless in its execution and fit and finish are beyond reproach.

I checked out the knife with a 10X magnifying which is usually not a good thing to do but with this knife its great fit and finish were only made more clear.

I am on the fence about carrying the knife and wondering how many of you carry your custom Bose knives and if you use a case, pouch, etc. Basically if you carry your Bose how do you carry it?

I carry 2 of my 4 bose knives..One is a black micarta slipjoint seen in the post below. I carry it in my pocket with keys, coins or what ever I have on hand..But..the backpocket I picked up a month ago stays in the soft case while in the pocket. The fit on all of the Bose knives are superb! Enjoy it..

I have watched Reese finish a knife in the shop. He uses a 10x power glass to inspect.

If the knife you have is for use, a nick or scratch on the frame is acceptable. The blade edge is the important part. My wife carries a Tony Bose Trapper she got as an anniversary present. It fits nicely in her back pocket without a case. Makers love to see use but cringe at abuse. You are the best judge of what works for YOU.

Yes, carry the whittler. Bill's cases in northern California makes a little sock that the whittler should fit in quite nicely. Also, Thompson, the knifemaker outside Portland, Oregon has some very nice cases for the front pocket. KK

I carry mine in my pocket - no case, no pouch - along with everything else that's in my pocket. I understand that Tony Bose finds the fussiness of carrying his knives in a pouch or case to be somewhat amusing - I think his comment was "I make pocket knives, not pouch knives". Heh.

A lot depends on what the handles are -- if they're bone, stag, or micarta, I'd carry it. With ivory, it would depend on just how solid it is - I would NOT carry most bark ivory, but I would carry quality interior ivory (in fact, one of the real problems with ivory is that people don't carry and use it -- ivory requires oils and moisture to remain in top condition, and carry and use supply those automatically). I personally would not carry a pearl handled knife -- I consider it just too fragile -- but there are those that carry them without problems and say they're actually fairly durable, so YMMV.

Yes, by all means, carry it !!!

I have 3 that I carry.

1) Reese Bose 3" Rogers Whittler w/ gold bomb and pins
2) Reese Bose Millenium Back Pocket in Stag
3) Tony Bose Ivory Full Size Back Pocket w/ Fancy shield

I just received Tony's knife today and I absolutely love it!!! Tony, thank you, thank you !!!!

I carry each in a leather slip pouch. When it is time. I will carry two at a time. One will go in each front pocket.

Enjoy your knife. Don't just put it away. Carry it, use it, apreciate it, and most of all enjoy it. That is what it is for. I like the slip because I cringe when I see I have scratched up a knife. Just my perfectionist tendancies I guess. I do carry a case collaboration hawbacker muskrat in my top pocket with no protection. And yes, it is scratched up ....

There is something about a knife that has been carried for a long time, it gives it character or what I call Patina. Anyone can have a new one.
