I've posted pics of this knife before, but it's still my most used Case. It's a Mini Copperlock. It's 3 5/8 inches closed.

In the two photos just above are Case Classics and were actually made by Queen. Case no longer had the tooling for the old knife patterns so they subcontracted it out.

Here's a picture of the best Case knife that I've had the pleasure to own. It's a 6394 1/2 pattern and is called a "Cigar". Made in the 1920's and is in mint condition. I have many more if y'all would like to see them.

Here's a newer one, made in 1970. Knife is a 6488 "Big Congress" This knife is called a transition because it has one blade stamped ten dot (1970) the the other blade is stamped CASE XX USA which is a stamp used from 1965 through 1969. They a considered rare and command a higher price. The '88 pattern is the most sought after Case knife by collectors. It also has the current record for highest price ever brought for a Case knife. One was sold at an auction for $14,300.00.

Here's a picture of the transition knife that I used to own.

This one is a Tony Bose/Case colab. I have most of the TB/Case models but they started getting so costly that I quit buying them.

Funny that you brought the subject up of the cost, Sidney. The Capt. and I were just talking about that the other day. Not so much the individual cost of each knife, but more so that they offer so many different variations of each model they bring out. Anymore to try and have the complete set of each model they issue would cost somewhere between $1200-1500. I'm with you, I might buy one of each but that's about it anymore. On the plus side, they have held there value pretty well.

Peter good looking Congress. I like this pattern. Cleaning up an older Case can have a negative effect on the selling price if you ever want to sell one.

Sidney, thank you for the info but it was clean ("mint") when I received it.
I was responsible for the patina on the blades later on laugh
But it's a keeper anyway. Unlike my beloved Randalls I can carry (and use) a folder like that anytime anywhere, even in the city.
I really enjoy it.

From the blade 61048.
6 Jigged Bone or Jigged Synthetic
1 one blade
048 slim line trapper (model)
On the other side of the blade the markings
Case XX
SS (or what looks like lightning bolts)
I "think" this dates the knife 1980-1989. But don't quote me on this, I need to be at home and look up my references.
Hope that helps and what you are looking for.

Rod got the most of it and did a fine job! The year made was 1989 and the handle material is delrin. Case does call them a "Slimline Trapper" but they are also called a "Dixie Switch" or a "Farmers Jack".

Rod is right on the dates. Used these marking starting in 1980. Called this a slim line or barehead trapper. Nice knife. I like jigged bone if I can't get stag.
