Nothing special as far as being a collectible, but I EDC this knife more than any other.

Copperhead pattern, 4" closed, ebony scales, nickel silver bolsters, brass pins and liners. 1/500 made in 2000. I made the leather lined sheath for optional belt carry.

Tom,

You have hit on one of my favorite Case XX patterns, the 49 series. I picked one of the same knives up that you have pictured, with the ebony scales. I really like the XX period with the greenbone.
Very nice sheath you have there. That will keep it looking nice for a long time:)

Thanks Michael. This is my only Case knife. I'm not a Case collector, but I really like this one. As you know, the blades are beautifully hollow ground. I can't tell you how many compliments I get on this knife. It's just a pleasure to use and hold.

They really are a great pattern! In addition to being called a Copperhead, they are also called Vietnam knives.

Now that you mentioned it, I think I remember reading something about them being called Vietnam knives. Wasn't it because this pattern was popular with soldiers at the time?

Perry,

The Vietnam name was what first intrigued me about this particular model. But the more I saw of them, the more I liked it. I'll have to start myself another collection of this model some day. Thank-you for reminding me...

One of my favorite Cases, and the one I carry the most, is the lockback version of the Copperhead that Case calls the Copperlock. Mine is actually the Mini Copperlock. It measures 3 5/8 inches.

I can't remember what Case called the handle color, but I do recall that it was dubbed a 'worm groove' pattern. I got it at a show years ago. I think the worm groove ones were a special run done for Parker.

The number is 61749L. It's hard to see clearly, but I think it has two dots, one before the USA and one after.

It's a fine knife and I intend to keep carrying it.

Rick,

Very nice, I like the worm groove look. Add the long pull to it and it all adds up to a very nice package. Sweet knife !!

Very nice, Rick. How's the blade play with that lock up? Any idea what year it was made?
