If we keep the blade length to 5 inches to go with the theme of a 5 inch 1911 how about we go with one of Bo's favorite and do a 3-5 with polished Sambar stag grips with finger grooves.

A couple of folks have already touched on this but it seems only right that a combat model 1911 should be paired with a combat knife and a carry gun should be paired with a carryin' knife. If we decide to go with a 5" blade in honor of the original 1911 (which I think is a great idea) that gives us a chance to "split the difference" and select something like a Combat Companion or a #1-5. Either of those could be considered a combat or a carry knife depending on the gun it gets paired with.

This has the feel of something big. I love 1911's and of course I love Randalls. I like all of the ideas so far.

It just hit me that we were starting the "build" in the wrong thread. Sorry about that: Peter posted the following:

I will vote for two knives I like a lot

A) Combat Companion
B) Lg. Gambler

Reasons, both are 5 inch blades, and both can have just about any handle material, so grips for the 1911 could be made from the same material. Also, both are personal protection type knives too.
