I think you really ought to investigate the Caly 3 with carbon fiber scales and Hitachi's ZDP-189 steel. I consider the Caly 3 to be Spyderco's best knife, and it is my EDC. ZDP-189 is the hardest steel I've ever heard of in a knife blade. (Rockwell "C" hardness is 66 to 67.) The super-hard ZDP-189 is sandwiched between 2 outer layers of softer steel, for strength. ZDP-189 is able to be made much harder than other steels because it uses powder metallurgy technology.
