Attention all RKS members,

I had a very nice visit to Greg Gutcher's leather shop last Thursday afternoon. Although I have no doubt that I kept Greg from doing several things he needed to do, I did have a mission in mind. Greg had asked me to stop by and check out some new Randall knife sheaths he is offering. That's right: New Randall knife sheaths...and they are a splendid addition if you ask me! (Actually: They're a splendid addition even if you don't ask me). Here's the deal...
Greg has ordered and received a new special "clicker die" that allows him to offer to "us" (Here at the RKS we're getting first shot) a new "Hi-Ride" sheath!! This sheath is only available from Sullivan's at this time and "not"...I repeat..."NOT"...from the Randall shop. Please do not call the shop about these fine sheaths. I will post Sullivan's contact information at the end of this announcement.
These sheaths are available in 10-12 weeks from time of initial order. This is possible because Sullivan's has the clicker die and they will be considered a "stock sheath". Make no mistake. Greg may consider them "stock" but they certainly have the custom look about them!
The standard "Hi-Ride" design is available for the following models..."ONLY". These are the only Randall knives that Greg can fit (or adapt) to this type of sheath at this time.
* Model #1-5",6",7" or 8"
* Model #5-4",5",6",7" or 8"
* Model #8-4"
* Model #8-4", "Old Style", (with a single hilt...not reduced)
* Model #16-7", Special Fighter. (one is pictured)
* Model #25-5", or 6" ( 5" is pictured)
* Model #26-4" (one is pictured)
* Model #28-4 1/2"

These sheaths will be priced from $45.00 each. There are a select number of custom options listed below:

* Waxed sheath option: Add $10
* Black sheath option: Add $20
* Hone pocket & hone: Add $10 *NOTE: 5" or "larger" blades only

You should also note that in order to receive these fine sheaths with the Randall (trademark) snaps Sullivan's must have the Randall knife in hand for that particular sheath. If that is not possible, the standard (silver) snaps will be installed. I hope you fellow RKS members take the opportunity to cash-in on this introductory offer...I know I did!

Best, Capt. Chris

I like!!!! Very Much!! I want!!! Does that mean that if we want a sheath but don't want to trust the mail system to and from Sullivans, that we can order a Randall marked sheath anyway by model, or it will not have any Randall markings at all, including the snap and the stamp.

Sorry, but as with all other sheaths for RMKs if you want the RMK trademark and logo snaps we will have to have the knife in hand.
Otherwise they will have only our SHS stamp and a plain snap.
That is the rules set down by the RMK shop, I have no choice in this.
Best, Greg.

I just got one of Gregg's sheaths for my Model 14 from some existing inventory. It was flawless as expected, and I don't mind the generic snaps at all.
The service was excellent as usual and I had it within just a few days of shipping.
If I ever get up there in person, I may bring up the 14..to see about getting RMK snaps or a whole new sheath. But at this point, I'm very happy with what I got.

Cap,

This is excellent news. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

I decided to bite, and called Danny at Sullivan's Holster Shop this morning to order one of these "Hi-Ride" sheaths for the #28 in black. I will be sending in one of my #28 knives when the sheath is almost ready in order to get the "RANDALL MADE" snaps and RMK stamp.

I was at Greg's shop today. We discussed several "projects" I have going on and I returned the sheaths that Greg had given me to photograph. I wish I had known about this question earlier. I'll try and get an answer tomorrow.
Best, Capt. Chris
PS: Danny Gutcher was kind enough to forward a pic of Greg "hard at work" this evening...CCS

He's just thinking about new sheath designs, that's all.
