You have me at a loss, Graham. I made no such claim of originality. I simply started a thread, and that is all. My ego is not such that I consider it to be my property, in terms of the idea nor the thread itself.

These are my own words, so let's study them a bit:
Quote:
I started the following thread in mid-March, mainly to cover the technical aspects of photography: http://www.knifetalkforums.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=74629
So far, so good. I stated that I started a thread in mid-March.
Quote:
The creative part, well, comes from one's own creativity.
Could this be the misunderstanding? The use of "creative" here refers to the second criteria for judging photos for previous EDO Photo Contests. In other words, it was not in reference to forum threads.

What I meant to convey is that while photography has some technical aspects, in terms of aperture, lighting, and exposure, there is also a creative element, specifically relating to composition and related factors.
Quote:
I should also point out that I am more than willing to help anyone on the forum with regard to photography.
Hopefully no one took offense to my willingness to help.

So the fact that quite a number of members of this forum disagree with you standards, doesn't worry you at all.

Why? Are we all so inferior to you? Or is it just me who is not worth answering.

Last time I looked international members pay more to be part of the RKS than US members, does this give me less rights as well?

I don't know about a tea party but it about time the paying members of this organisation started demanding better management of our forum.

I have no problem with someone disagreeing with me. Go ahead and reply to my post right above yours.

BTW, I have been thinking to start the Bourbon Drinking Movement, mainly because I honestly don't care for tea.

Actually I wasn’t going to bother but since you asked.

What is “so good” about it Ken? It is a total double standard on your part.

You objected to a long standing, respected paying member of this forum, claiming he started a thread. A thread which, like you he clearly acknowledged was not his original idea. Still you pursued it over at least 2 threads causing considerable unease on the forum and resulting in that member being banned. Now I am pointing out to you, that you are doing what you objected to another member doing. But now you are say its all good and above board. Because you a better person.

As a paying member of this forum I’m saying that it is acceptable for a ordinary member to make this kind of error in judgment providing they abide by the rules. But you are a moderator and as such you need to demonstrate a much higher standard than you have.

I have no confidence in you performing those duties. End of story

PS your reference to your Bourbon drinking obsession is just another attempt to trivialize this whole discussion

Dr. Lunde I’m sure it is just an oversight on you behalf, but given your recent objection to people claiming to have started a thread when it was not their original idea. Don’t you find it some what hypocritical to be claiming to have started a thread just after Tom has posted links to a thread predating yours?

Good question.

Given that the thread that was referenced was not a sticky, I was unaware of it, and thus started the one whose link I provided. In terms of any claims to originality, I have none. I merely stated that I started that thread, and nothing more.

Ken,

I think it rather disingenuous to claim that you were unaware of the Photography Forum/Thread in the Randall Picture Gallery when you created your thread "Some photography tips and suggestions" on 03/12/10 when in fact you participated in the Photography Forum/Thread and entered a couple of posts on 10/22/09, Page 51. (Link Attached) During the time the Photography Forum/Thread was active you were an active participant in many other threads in the Randall Picture Gallery as well.

Obviously you misspoke and that's OK. Just wanted to get the facts straight. I do think it is unfortunate that you chose not to be a more active participant in the Photography Forum/Thread and share your considerable photographic knowledge but instead you chose to let the thread go by the wayside and introduce your own thread in March of 2010.

When I read that Graham was quitting the forum I sent him a PM. Here is my message and his reply from 9/16 and 9/17. ================================================
Graham,
I'm sincerely sorry you're leaving. I hope it's only temporary. Though I don't know you, nor you me, from our limited correspondence you seem to be a principled individual with a passion for history. The next time you come to the U.S. I hope you'll let me show you eastern Virginia where our nation began. You may come away with a different perspective. Best of luck and remember, no matter how flat you make a pancake it still has two sides.

Rick Bowles
========================================================

Leaving? Who you talking bout Bowles. Why would I leave the party is just getting started. It is only midday here. I got a bunch of mates joining in tonight and we aren't eating pancakes.
=======================================================
The party went well last night, it was full of surprises. The biggest surprise was who wasn't invited. Your old mate Melvin was there, though I must admit I did find him a bit of a pain in the ass. Now I understand your pancake analogy. Two sides to the pancake but in this case only 1 frying pan you could say.
I think I will stick around, the forum is about to get interesting again.
======================================================

Graham,
You've flamed somebody in every thread imaginable tonight. If this is your attempt at "interesting" you've missed the mark.
Since you've already announced that your leaving the forum I suspect you're trying to get banned first so the rest of the "group" can throw you a eulogy as well. Good luck with that.

I'm dang sure leaving this thread. I don't have the photo skills nor the equipment to compete anyway.

Rick as you I both know those PM were in relations to my attempt ti inject a bit of Aussie humour into a forum that has totally lost all humour.

Your attempt to imply relevance to this thread only exposes your involvement which you had previously assured me was not the case.

What we have here is an even more blatant case double standards as it was you that once criticize the posting of PM's on this forum.

Rick I suggest you are confused I have only posted in one thread tonight and I have only sort to improve the moderation of this forum to it’s previous high standard.

Cheers

No I never announce I was leaving my membership is still current until March 2013.
I simply was announcing that I would not be participating in the wood built for which I donated the material and would not be posting regularly.

As for being banned I have to ask Rick. Do you believe that, standing up for a well run forum, for which I paid good money, is grounds for banning?

Perhaps if you do, it is probably the reason you have lost the job of Moderator on this and other forums

Almost six months passed, so I clearly forgot. Oh, well.

Hopefully I am not alone in feeling that a 53-page thread is not the ideal place to garner photographic advice and suggestions. A wiki format is better, not a thread, because once a thread becomes beyond a dozen or more pages, it no longer serves as a resource, and is there merely for historical purposes.
