I think most of the members know exactly what's going on. Rhett, the owner/administrator of the forum and our fearless leader made a determination that the Excellence in Knife Photography contest aka Edo Award had become a popularity contest. Both Rhett and Edo agreed that the intent of the contest had been subverted. The stated goal of acknowledging excellent knife photography and promoting photographic education and instruction was no longer being achieved.
Rhett and Edo invited two other excellent photographers to join Edo in judging the entries.
Some members, for their own reasons, took exception to the change and chose to voice their opinion in the open. In their zeal they personally attacked one of the judges who's only crime was volunteering his time and talents and supporting the change announced by Edo and Rhett.

Well.
I think there has been some good discussion here.
I think the good thing about the new rules is to prevent, and possibly stop the contest from being a
popularity contest. I know some people in the past have called members to sway their vote.
I was surprised and saddened to hear this.
But, be that as it may, that should come to a stop with the new rules. And that's good.
I will abide by the new rules, and will participate in the contests going forward in hope that it will turn
out well and contribute to the "health" of our Forums.
I encourage all to do the same ... again, for the continued health and growth of our Forums.
Thanks,
Tony

Ken,
No problem!
I started this with "A Friendly Opinion" and I meant it. I DO hope this works well going forward and I think it will.

BTW ... Edo's "here" is not clickable for me. It hasn't been since he first posted it.
I'm on a MAC but that shouldn't be a problem?

It's not a Mac OS X thing (I also use Mac OS X). It is simply underlined text, not a link. What Edo meant was to post the photos directly to this thread. Given that a new thread is likely, I already provided to Edo revised wording on that specific point. Also, the new EDO Photo Contest thread is also likely to be posted as a sticky in the "Randall Made Knives" area of the forum, where it will get greater exposure, and with any luck, greater participation.

A couple of you members seem to delight in making something bad out of something good. This a a Photographic Forum and not a tglassco bitching contest. You apparently must not know any better as you seem to pop up in several threads with your most negative positions.

I admire Mr. Lunde's composure in all this.

It has been determined that the EDO Photo Contest will be changed. Those rules will be ststed on the Forum. Three very competent judges have been chosen. If you will pay attention you will learn from these guys and become a better photograpger.

This thread being locked.

Regards,

Rhett
