Shown in the book R.W. Loveless by Luigi Peppini are Special "5" Sets. There were 5 of these sets. These sets consisted of five special, one of a kind sets with blades numbered from 1 through 5 in five different materials. For instance Set #1 consisted of a (Utility) (Chute) (Drop Point) (Fighter) (Straight Hunter) all done in ivory . I imagine that it is one of these sets that Dubie is talking about Miles having. Don't know for sure but that's what I would suspect.

Mike, thanks. I'm pretty certain that is what Miles has. I believe the knives in the set are all engraved or scrimmed.

Here's a good article on the old master. http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0BTT/is_183_30/ai_n26947533/

On the Loveless 5 knife set:

They're all smaller knives: drop point hunter, straight hunter, semi-skinner, utility and caper finn. All have double nude logos and long bolsters, each knife with both sides relief engraved by Bruce Shaw. (all with different game animals -- Ram, Mountain Lion, Bear, etc.) All knives have their original sheaths. Custom locking display box made specifically for the set. I've owned the set for nearly two years, this is the first time I pulled it out to photograph.

WOW!
Very Impressive.
Does anyone know the history, or the "why" of the nude logo?

Miles, thanks very much for the pictures. Just talking about them wasn't much fun.

Are the sheaths standard Loveless style or are they special too?

Here's a small page for Bruce Shaw. http://www.fega.com/membership/PhDetWList.asp?recidparam=471

My pleasure!

Sheaths are standard Loveless pouch with a couple of letters on the back of each to designate which knife it's for. Example: SS = semi skinner, DP = drop point, etc.

Double nudes on all, Tune... you would win that bet.
