I had an idea for an one hundred year anniversary of the 1911 build of a Randall Made Knife, and talked to Capt. Chris about it at the Blade Show. He agreed that it would be a fun build and that if we work on it now the knife would be delivered in 2011. 1911-2011
My initial thought was to build a hidden tang fighter with some nice handle material and have some 1911 grips made with the same material. It would be great to have a matching sheath and holster, but I don't know if we can do that too. Maybe some etching on the blade or an inlay on both the knife handle and 1911 grips
I hope we can get a lot of ideas of which model knife and what handle materials people like.
We are open to your ideas for this build. Picture is one idea

Peter

Peter...and the rest of the "crew",

I am on board with this build! It sounds like a super project to me and can have endless possibilities! I hope others share in this love for both Randall knives and all of the #1911 designed pistols. It will be hard to come up with one idea to move forward with. I await, eagerly, some of the responses. Come on crew! Put on your thinking cap! Great idea, Peter.
Best, Capt. Chris
PS: Peter: Did you get my "care package" yet?...CCS

I know that we are often times saddled with the 5 option limit. Here's "one idea" (hopefully, we'll have many more). I can have the blade etching done over at the Cape (Titusville, Fl.) by my etcher who is doing the "Challenger Mission Memorial" project's blades. Although it took several "test runs" to come up with the final design, I believe it is top notch! What do you folks think?
Best, Capt. Chris

Hi Capt. Chris
I wont know about package until I get home from work, An etching of a 1911 and the dates would be a nice possibility.

Hi Tony
I was thinking of something like that myself. This can be a great build
What kind of 1911 do you want to get?

Thanks Peter!
But I'll need a little education before I can answer that.
I was thinking I might get a .22 for target shooting, as the rod and gun club I've
applied for membership to has shooting competitions that I would like to be part of.
When I get my permit (maybe 6 month wait) and get close to making a decision, I'll log in here
for some advice.

Hi Tony
One of the many nice things about the .45 ACP 1911 is that a number of companies make a .22 LR upper so you can practice with inexpensive ammunition, and have the same grip and trigger pull, and then swap back the .45 upper for more serious hole punching.
