Hi Tune and guys
If you go back to the first post here, you can see one of my 1911's and a Combat Companion both with ironwood, but not from the same piece.
I was going to wait until it arrived this week, but I have a CC coming with Ivorite, and perhaps we could get a piece to make grips too.

I just received the Ivorite CC today, here it is with my other two with three different handle styles in three different materials for your perusal. It might help with ideas to configure this build

I think that Maple Burl would be GREAT!
Great color. Great grain.
I think it's the BURL that grabs me. Maybe there are also some other BURL woods that would work?

I had a good talk and visit this weekend with Gene Beal. As some of you know, Gene sets up with me at the Orlando gun & knife show. I snapped a few photos of his display as it pertains to this specific build. I'll try and get them edited and posted later on today. I think you folks will, not only find it interesting but perhaps move in a slightly different direction...more to come.
Best, Capt. Chris

OK, Crew:
These are not quality photos (Most of mine aren't). Gun and knife show "pics" are more to give folks an "idea" of what stuff looks like...Here's some examples. First 2: Gene Beal with a portion of his display/set-up.
Best, Capt. Chris

The next shots show some of his "finished" 1911 grips in elephant ivory.
