I finally have time to give a Blade Show Report.
This was my first time to the show and certainly wont be my last. My flight was delayed in DC Thursday night, so I missed the RKS mixer. I stayed in the hotel connected to the Cobb Galleria, which was very convenient.
When the show opened Friday at noon, my first goal was to get some ironwood for some knives that I have slots for. I met Capt. Chris and he led me to a good source. After I purchased the wood, I started looking for knives, and I bought quite a few (pictures will follow when I get a chance).
Over the course of the day I met many dealer and guys from the forums, including, Capt. Chris Stanaback, Gary and Leanna Clinton, Rick Ward, Perry Miller, Scott Maynard, Rhett and Janie, Rod Brown, Boblade, Tunefink, Crutchtip, Burnie, Silverknife, Wally, Eddie and many others.
After the show, people meet at the "pit" for the beverages of their choice (What happens in the pit, stays in the pit :)) I then went to a nice Italian restaurant with some of my new friends.
Saturday, I attended the RKS meeting and met more guys. I then went into the show to buy more knives and other needed items such as a lifetime supply of Renaissance Wax. I hung out with various folks as I looked for other items I had to have. I also met the Behrings from Treeman knives, the Boses, Chris Reeve, and Sal Gleser of Spyderco.
After the show Saturday, we met at the pit before going to dinner at a great Thai restaurant and then back to the pit.
I had to fly back home Sunday morning, but I had spent all of my money by then.
I had a great time, everyone was really nice, saw some great knives, bought some great knives.
If you can ever make it, go and bring all of the cash you can lay your hands on.
I apologize about some the pictures with the glare, but lighting wasn't good.
Peter
