Felix,

Right now there are no Moderators and I sincerely hope we will not need any. Eric Price is our computer Guru that we buy all our equipment through. We have known Eric since 1986 when he was a young kid working for Radio Shack. I had bought a Tandy, Commodore computer at a Houston yard sale and had no idea how to even turn a computer on. It did have a problem and I took it into the store where Eric worked. Well, he worked on it like I had purchased it there and was very helpful with his instruction. His customer support that day endeared him to Janie and myself and we have become good friends.

Eric left Radio Shack soon thereafter and started his own business in Vero Beach, Florida. The name, Technology Partners. Since then I have bought all our computers from him except one, early on. He is also the server for this site.

RTurbeville is a fellow RKS member (actually now a life member) from Virginia that just offered his services to the Randall Knife Socuiety by email on September 5th. I already had the programming in place after an attempted "Coup" in April this year and this site was installed in May by Eric Pric and Technology Partners.

Rick had the site ready for me to look at in two days and finished in four. All this for no charge, but as a gift to the Randall Knife Society. He will be getting a Randall when I go see him next week.

RTurbeville and I have never met, which makes this an even more amazing story. He joined the RKS in March of 2004. A very special person, RTurbeville.

Best regards,

Rhett

Rhett,

I know a couple of guys who own RMK's but are not members of the RKS. Is there a way I can sign them up (and pay 1st year dues) online? PayPal would be a plus too.

Tom,

You may join for them by clicking on the PayPal link at the top of this page. Or you may join at the RKS website www.randallknifesociety.com.

Thanks for the info on the two folks behind the scenes, Rhett. Forum personalization is always greatly appreciated. I see it was my bad...the User List page shows them as Administrators, not Moderators as I originally thought.

Rhett
Nice talking to you earlier. I was in a state of panic but all calmed down now and ready for my first post.

All,
This is not a hard and fast rule. Just something I am asking you to do. On the register form the “display name” is the one that will appear as the main name with your posts. It is OK to use your internet names there such as “moosehead”. But please take the time to enter your full name and RKS member number, if you are a member by following the instructions below. If not a member just enter your name. This name will act a signature to your posts.
Please, do this for me and you. Click on “My Home” at the top of the page and follow the links I list below to register your signature which will appear at the bottom of your posts. The main reason I do this here is, I think we will have less problems if a posters real name appears with his posts. Something about signing your real name, that makes a person think about what they say (I hope).
Thank you,
Rhett

I'm a new guy here so please cut me some slack with this.
Our RKS members who have been around since the beginning probably know each other by your first names and nicknames.
Rhett ask us to post our "full names" so I did. Wish more of you would too. Makes for a friendlier atmosphere and helps promote new RKS members (two of which I just signed up). I promise I won't come around asking for a loan!
Thanks, Tom Welch

p.s.
Those of you who do, please pray our state will be spared from Hurricane Rita.

Really like the new site. Thank you very much.

Was a member of the old site but hopefully this site will be much better.
