Matt

Sorry to tell you the knife is sold. The buyer is a VERY knowledgable RMK person, so I am assuming that is was the real thing.

As Rod stated, the buyer frequents this forum somewhat frequently - maybe Ron will see this thread and respond when he receives the knife.
Check back in about 7-10 days.

That was a fair "Buy It Now" price, considering the shape that Stockman sheath was in.

The knife is earlier than the seller states, no later than 1955 in my opinion and probably a bit earlier. The sheath appears to be a Clarence Moore, not a Stockman.

Hi Guys,

I put it C 1947-1949 as I don't believe peened tangs (primarily seen on field knives) extended past the decade of the 40's. As well, the unusual spacer set at the butt is more a 40's phenonemon. A 5" version didn't show up in the catalog until 1948. C.J. would typically make the 1st sheaths on a new model until Heiser tooled up for the pattern. I was counting on the sheath being one of his when I pulled the trigger. The stitching matches up pretty well. Won't know for sure until I have it in hand.

Best,

Thanks guys it was already sold when I saw it and I believed it may be earlier than the seller stated. That was the reason for posting asking for opinions about it.

Hey Matt, apparently you are interested in "vintage" Randalls. I am a lower level collector of newer, more affordable? RMKs but I would highly recommend that you join this forum because we have a plethora of really smart RMK experts who can advise you. You have already seen the "seasoned" responses to your question. Come on in and immerse yourself. Bill Jacobs.
