It's been a few years since Tony made a knife with this blade, sometimes called a "Modified Wharncliffe", Schrade called this blade profile the Zulu Spear. Blade and spring on this stag beauty is CPM-440v.

This knife is going to a guy that is planning on using it to field dress a deer this season. Good hunting to ya!

Nice pattern huh Juan???
Stag looks great on this one, but yours I think is Amber.... isnt it??
I think (somewhere) I may have a pic of it before it got to you.

I guess the days of the hand cut shields are over?

Mr. Nugent, what do you mean by "I guess the days of the hand cut shields are over?"
I assumed from the little less sharp points on the shield, that the use of the 1/32" mill cutter and maybe a decision to not take the points to as sharp on this knife are the reason for the difference.... Did I miss something? That is definitely possible....
Thank-You,

Shields make a big difference to me and I think you are dead on.

"I Think" the knife pictured above has a wire cut shield put in with a mill. The other way is to cut the shield out from flat stock and filed it out from a pattern. Then with chisels hand cut the shield in the Stag or Bone …. I prefer the hand made…hand cut shields.

The above double bomb shield (if you can call it that?) to me seems to have more of those rounded curves (or little less sharp points that you spoke of) than a hand made double bomb shield with sharp points…. Looks less custom and more like a highly produces manufactured knife.

This is just my opinion as a collector, but I would not be surprised if in the future it has a negative factor in re-sale values.

You're hereby appointed curator for life of the Bose Museum. No ifs or buts. Yes, that's just like mine. Same stag, though. Except that mine has an ATS-34 blade, if I recall correctly.

I saw Reese handling one at the show back when I attended, and I ordered one right there and then.

It's time to knock off the bullshit, that shield was cut by hand and put in with chisels. I used a new pattern which you can see in the Bose thread in Knifeforums. I don't use a parser plate on anything but smooth handle materials such as ivory. The man that's getting this knife is happy as hell with it.

I have been a "lurker" here for a while learning what I can & viewing all of ya'lls knives. They are very beautiful!

Although I have to admit that this is a first for me, seeing the Maker of the knife that the forum is named for having to defend himself from the Moderator I believe that Mr Bose has more knowledge of what he made than you do!
