Mr. Nugent, what do you mean by "I guess the days of the hand cut shields are over?" I assumed from the little less sharp points on the shield, that the use of the 1/32" mill cutter and maybe a decision to not take the points to as sharp on this knife are the reason for the difference.... Did I miss something? That is definitely possible.... Thank-You,

You're hereby appointed curator for life of the Bose Museum. No ifs or buts. Yes, that's just like mine. Same stag, though. Except that mine has an ATS-34 blade, if I recall correctly.
I saw Reese handling one at the show back when I attended, and I ordered one right there and then.

It's time to knock off the bullshit, that shield was cut by hand and put in with chisels. I used a new pattern which you can see in the Bose thread in Knifeforums. I don't use a parser plate on anything but smooth handle materials such as ivory. The man that's getting this knife is happy as hell with it.

I'm the man who got this knife. And as Tony said, I am happy as hell with it. It's absolutely gorgeous. Mr. Nugent, I don't give a damn about your opinion. And to add an "I think" to your post is just a cowardly approach. You can think a lot of things, but many times they are wrong.
Tony and Reese Bose make the finest pocketknives around. Their reputations and skills should never be questioned.
Thank you, Tony, for taking the time to make me this knife. It's beautiful in all respects and I will always cherish it.
Kevin

Fellas, fella's, can't we all just get along? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DmYLrxR0Y8I guess if I could afford to be a connoisseur of Bose knives I would care more about the shields, but I recently came to the realization that I just can’t afford to buy them on the secondary market anymore. I don’t know what shields I have on my knives, but they all cut. But I do have four or five good user Bose knives and I’m taking two of them camping with me today. Shields aside, they’ll do everything I need them to do, but I guess that goes without saying. Every day that I wake up and put a Reese, Tony or Kerry Hampton knife in my pocket I have the satisfaction of knowing I have the best knife in my neighborhood. Peace out

I thought the Randall forum was the home to people who threw out their opinions without knowing the facts. Mr. Nugent, Probably would have been better to go to the maker & ask prior to posting a flawed opinion.Posting opinions are one thing, posting irresponsibly is another, especially for a moderator. Tony Bose says it's right, good enough for me. Tony,Absolutely Beautiful Knife! GOD BLESS OUR TROOPS!!!

I'll take one shield, no shield, yes shield, maybe shield, hallelujah shield, Paris shield, Pamela shield, coco shield, croco shield, freaking shield, Obama shield, dollar shield, peso shield, whatever shield, I'll take one or two or three, I'll take 'em all, thank you.
Oh, and congrats, sir. That's one way awesome knife. When I first saw one I begged Mr. Bose to please make one for me. By the way, tomorrow I'm going after some deer myself, so I'll take mine and post pics. I hope you'll do too. Good luck, and, again, congratulations.

Friends, A few thoughts. 1. What a Great knife, and someone will have a great time using it!--Just Beautiful! 2. That shield on it sure looked Fine to me! 3. Why does "The Old Dog" have to defend his knife? I didn't hear the Buyer complaining! 4. Was out of state on Company business, and found out how screwed up parts of Detroit really is. Can you say..Depressed? (The mayor got thrown in jail, yesterday morn) 5. And last but not least, if Any of you are not totally happy with your Bose, You just send them to me, and I will take very good care of them! Kent

Kevin…I’m going to be the way I am. Sorry if you don’t like it. I don’t know what manners has to do with it…
The reason why I put the “I think” in was that I wasn’t there when the shield was put in and I was wrong. It just looks like it was
I don’t mind being corrected if I am wrong. If that’s the way he put the shield in that’s fine…
You are missing my point….and it doesn’t sound like you are ever going to get it
"I guess the days of the hand cut shields are over?" This was in your first post........The words "I Think" are no where in the post!
He's right Kevin about manners having nothing to do with it. I think a better word would be Disrespectful.
See Ya, Chief
I meant no disrespect to anyone….I am sorry that everyone took my comments so personal … I wish I had not made them.
During the past years I have gotten a bit picky about the little things on pocketknives and have always expressed myself. I have looked, studied over, every aspect of each pattern and know what I like and what I don’t. What I said about the shield was my opinion and was wrong for me to express it the way I did.
Every Bose knife made is a work of art, we all know that, we would not be on the forums or want the knives if we didn’t. I would not have collected them for 15 years nor would I be a moderator if I didn’t feel so strong about them.
This is my hobby and the guys on these forums make it what it is. Please accept my apology

Well here is my Sunday "Go to Meetin Knife". Pretty fancy for a country boy, huh? Now to the John incident. I just talked to him by phone and I am not taking sides here. John has the greatest respect for Tony's work but the comment he made was wrong. Tony, corrected him and that should be enough said. I know this offended many of you. If anyone said anything about Tony to me I would probably get whipped before I could get my gun out. Too old to fight here. So enjoy this Forum as you are doing a lot of good here. Best regards, Rhett Stidham

Kevin, this is for you. I shot three deer earlier today, and all were dressed with the fixed blade knife by Reese and with the knife in the picture, the one just like yours. I only wish we could sit around and eat some of this stuff together. Please open attachment.

several things: 1.If I precipitated or percipitated anything wrong, I apologize. I thought mentioning the 1/32" mill and parser plate was complimentary...it was well defined in the tutorial for an ivory handled BP folder he and Kerry did... 2. John Nugent is, as I understand, one of the most prolific collectors and fans of Tony, and Reese's knives..it would be silly, and extremely unlikely, for him to sincerely make any negative comments about T's or R's knives.... 3. I was really hoping that in addition to the use of the parser plate on ivory, Tony had figured out how to use it and level it on slabs like jigged bone and stag...I'd still like to know if that is a real possibility.....and how and what to do.. I don't know how to do that or what material to use .... I'd never intentionally tick off Tony...I too much respect him, and his experience and, obviously, his skill.
