That's a good question and I will try to answer based on what I know and maybe Tony will add or make corrections if need be. This is a general outline of the steps but there are many smaller operations that take place in between.
There is a definite sequence that must be followed or you can screw up the blade and then you get to start over
. After the blade is cut out from stock and cleaned up on the grinder, the positions for swedges and nail pulls are located. The pull is milled first while the blade blank is still flat and can be clamped down securely. After that, the main bevel is ground and the tang stamps applied.
Any blades that need to be crinked is done at this time before heat treating. After heat treating, the final grinds are put on the main bevel. If the finish is going to be hand rubbed it is done at this time. The swedges are the last things that are done to the blade prior to assembly.
