Not a 5-4? Couldn't part with a model 5, could ya? smile

Good luck to your cousin.

Rod,
That Model 8 is the old style or the newer style? I have had the old style model 8 for many years.

I just returned from my annual trip to my cabin up in Maine on the Canadian border.
A 638 lb black bear was harvested (not by me) and I think it may be a state record.

It is a newer style Model 8. I don't have many RMK that are not Model 5's. I picked the one, of my non 5's, that would be best for elk, and gave it to him.
Hopefully I will get some pics, if he is successful.

Rod,
Where will he be hunting for elk???

If I am not mistaken, the outdoorsman,Bradford Angier, designed the Model 5. I was always thinking of getting one but,for my needs, the old style Model 8 is more than enough.

Squirrels, rabbits, birds are my game when I go out on "safari" My usual go to piece is a very old Savage/Stevens Model 24 22lr/410 O/U.

Bradford Angier thought that a Model #5-6" in carbon steel, with a nickel silver single hilt, black micarta handle, wrist thong and compass was the ultimate camp knife.

PS: Boy...Have we stolen the "Redfield" thread or what?

Eh, rare is it for a thread to survive a dozen posts.

It's good that the direction of the hijack trended towards blades.

Wandering back a little bit toward scopes, but not Redfield.
I recently bought a Vortex Viper PST-3151 at the Tulsa show.
When I got home, I realized the Power Adjustment Ring was really hard to turn.
I sent it to Vortex under their We Got Your Back warranty and described the problem.
Within one week, I received a brand new replacement.
They paid shipping both ways and no charge to me for anything.
Great Warranty!

Thats a really great warranty!

Did they say what caused the ring to be stiff?
