I don't see what that has to do with dating the knife? but thanks for the advice

Said because the knife at glance appears to be a re-handle done outside the shop...fit and look suggest this.

I called the shop asked them about the knife and sent them a picture, they didn't ask if it had a sheath but also gave me a date range of 1975-1985, they didn't mention anything about the handle other than it was a option, they stated the spacers helped them in dating the knife, should have called them first, thanks for everyones comments.

The handle is not original as Capt. said. and you are lucky you got any information from the shop w/o the knife there to examine. In any case, the spacer stack looks to be an attempt to replicate of the stack used on non-leather handles from around 1973- 1977. The blade grind appears to be a shop foreman's work at that time, with the funky finger relief on the spine. My guess would be late 80's - early 90's

I reckon our observations are going to be over-looked Joe. Despite the fact that were "all" asked (That's what happens when you ask a "forum") for our opinion. The fact that you are the authenticator, I am an appraisal and Scott foreman's the entire shop doesn't appear to matter. Guess he simply wanted an "amen"!
Hallelujah,
Capt. Chris
