Members, I have been informed as to the bashing I am taking in the Facebook Group. Titled: Randall Knives B/S/T I cannot log in or even "view" this site. I have had several friends and customers send me the slammin'-text from this group but...again...no way to reply. If someone can copy-n-paste my comments, it "just-maybe-may" clear up some of this mess. My response: Although Mike (James sometimes) does have legitimate issues with me...and this knife transaction, not "all" that has been posted is true. I'll try and be brief and, in hopes that this gets posted on your B/S/T forum, to the point. Was the knife purchased from me? Yes Did I wrap and put this knife in one of my grey plastic totes under my table? Yes Now: Various facts from here on out... Fact "1": I "Never" stated that this knife was stolen. I said this knife "may have" been stolen. The grey tote, as many of you know who have seen my setup, is one of 4 such totes I use to carry my stash in & out of shows. This tote was "set on top of my tables, opened and further filled with remaining knives, upon the closing of the show. It remained open while I filled it from "all 3 tables" on my end cap. Many times my back was turned away from this tote and dealers, as well as the general public, were still present and roaming around the show, just prior to it's official closing. Fact"2": I also had a Model #1-7 inch, black micarta, come up "missing". This was not noticed till after I had returned from the show. Fact "3": Because Mike's #24 was wrapped up...to "include" his receipt/paperwork, I had no way to contact him. Fact "4": Recently, after giving Mike the option of "anything" I had in stock, or "anything" I had on order coming out, to include another Guardian, made up just like his, I returned all of his money...+...an extra $15.00, just in case there was any Paypal fees incurred. Fact "5": Mike, initially gave me an email address (to pay him through paypal) that Paypal "didn't even have"! Once Mike gave me a 2nd email address, he was paid within 30 seconds. I know everyone will believe what they wish. I cannot change that. I, in 42 years as an authorized Randall knife dealer, have only had "2" customers who have chosen to "go public" with their whines...Only "2". I have sold "thousands" of Randall Made Knives. Just consider that, is all I ask. Thanks...& "STAY SHARP", Capt. Chris

I am not on facebook or any other social media, and even though I haven't purchased any Randall knives recently. I have had many quality dealings with Captain Chris in the past, and I totally trust his honesty and professionalism and all of my dealings went without a hitch

I have been dealing with the Captain as long as anyone buying and trading and have never had a problem if something showed up that was wrong, he took care of it pronto!!!!!!
I don't know whose doing the bashing buy would suggest that you find something to bash on.

Bought my 1st from him at the Orlando show in 2011 after our house fire... Picked up my most recent from him @ 2 months ago... With many that have come and a few that have gone in between.
I believe the 80/80 concept..... If you can keep 80% of the people HAPPY... 80% of the TIME.... Your doing a Helluva JOB!!!!!

I read the posts on the Randall FB Page, and as usual, when something doesn't fly right, the customer tends to post the incident on Facebook for sympathy or to "sling mud" on the dealer that originated the deal, in this case, Chris Stanaback.
I was frustrated by all the name calling and the one sided conversation going on the page.
My quandary is I am on restriction by Facebook for clicking on a "See More" button on one of the Reels that appear on my Facebook stream. In doing so, a scammer added 500 pages of junk to my two Facebook pages. One of the disadvantages of Facebook is the Help Center is almost impossible to contact to get relief or "erase" those 500 pages on my own time.
FB came to my rescue to eliminate the 500 pages, but they figured I was mostly to blame, so I have been put on restriction for 1 YEAR, starting in October 2024. I cannot participate or add to a string of comments in someone else's posting.
I regret the incident, but I see it on Facebook time and time again. Folks seem to avoid contacting the source for relief or answers, and instead relieve their frustration by "hanging their dirty laundry" out for friends to see. Even the Randall Shop has been experiencing this.

Saw the post, lots of childish name calling and of course most everyone reinforcing the OP's side of the story. Typical social media drama. I've only purchased from the Capt a couple times without issue, in fact if I remember correctly my wife attempted to purchase for me a NASA 15 years ago. It was gone but Capt Chris offered up another, with more options IIRC, at the same price. Thumbs up in my book

I have known the Capt for a few years now. He has on more then one occasion gone out of his way to help me. Any time that I have seen a customer with a problem the Capt. has worked quickly to resolve it. I have also seen customers start bitching to others before they even talk to him. He is not known for putting up with much BS either and that bothers some people.

.....fb has become the scammers website True. My experience when I first started using FB was an offer to buy a Honda Generator at a great price. I sent my payment using a credit card on Paypal and never received the generator. I contacted Paypal. After 2 weeks they said the seller had a receipt for delivery from the USPS that it had been delivered to my mailbox. I asked how they got a generator into a mail kiosk and it was an obvious fake receipt? Paypal never refunded the money. I contacted the credit card company and got the same response. I complained to the cc company that I was a senior citizen that had been defrauded by FB, Paypal, and now my cc company. I got an immediate refund from the cc company. Colorado's AG at the time was really tough on crimes against anyone over 65, considered a senior citizen and at risk of fraud.

The Captain has always been great to deal with in my actions. I have not been able to get what I wanted because it was not available. That is no reflection on him. He is a stand up guy in my opinion. He does not need my praise. His actions speak for him. I hate this is going on.

This was my response to the Facebook post. "Nelson Silva Fernandez Mike Thompson, Sorry to hear you had an unsatisfactory experience with Chris Stanaback. Considering his depth of knowledge of all things Randall, his non-stop schedule with thousands of satisfied clients, and the fact he returned your money, his reputation is still pretty solid. I doubt Randall would keep him for over 40 years if he intentionally made reputation-damaging deals. The importance of any businessman is making good on mistakes. Sounds like he did. Again, sorry this happened to you. Hope you find someone you can work with. My daughter and I have done business with him for many years. He is like a grandfather and mentor."
