Model #15's/CDTs fall under the radar most often but it's a great choice! A little more "Butch" than a Model #5, it would do well for a multitude of duties/chores. Here's one outta' my "Stash" that, once again, was ordered as a stock knife...years ago.
Yeah...Right! Once I laid eyes on it...it was headed for The Captain's STASH! Greg Gutcher made me this natural leather hi-ride to go with it. The whole rig doesn't suck!
Let's see more examples ( & more models) of your choice for an EDC!
Stay, Sharp,
Capt. Chris

Hard to choose, My #15 CDT W/Compass has been my choice since I received it, my time hunting continues to lessen.

Craig--

Beautiful knife!

These 15CDT's do look a lot like Model 5's on steroids.

Of course, my 1st choice is a Model5-5" carbon steel Bradford since it was my 2nd Randall ordered in the fall of 1974 and received in the Spring of 1975. I am not a fan of the top blade sharpened, except for the Model 8 and 19 for specific duties. Also I like the Model 5 blade width and weight. It's been the best all around ,do it all, knife I've ever had in my 81 years on this earth.

Pap--

Understand about not wanting the top bevel sharpened.

Anyone wanting the heavier blade of the Model 15 can ask that the top bevel not be sharpened, otherwise it is done automatically on that model.

And agree that the Model 5 is a good all-around knife.

But there are just too many models to choose from, and all are good for what they are designed for.
