...Just to let all you "forumites" be aware: "ALL" of my websites are down until early next week. While I was conveniently out-of-state, attending the Tulsa Gun & Knife Show, Go-Daddy saw it fitting to charge $1,000.00 in advance for 2 years of "security" for all of my websites! I contested the charges and was awarded my money back but the websites are blocked because of it!
Caveat Emptor! Beware of these Go-Daddy practices! Bad Ju-Ju! Rick T. is working on re-designing my websites, starting with the Randall knife sites, of which there are 3 or 4. This will be an involved process, hopefully to be completed on Monday or Tuesday of next week.
Thanks to Rick for his incredible "Geek-Knowledge" and for all of for your understanding. It's hard to believe these Go-Daddy practices are used...
Stay Sharp, Capt. Chris

GoDaddy "used" to be the go-to for such services.

Their prices have gone through the roof.

And they have partnered with Microsoft on delivering email services.

I originally received service for a couple or maybe more email addresses as part of my URL purchases from them, included in the base price.

Recently they sent me a bill for $300 to provide the same service for 3 years for one email address that is seldom used. I cancelled that purchase and do not have access to that particular email anymore.

My intent is to move all of my URL's to another hosting service, and to quite using the Microsoft mail service...hoping to find a host that does not make me pay additionally for Microsoft.

Larry

I do my own hosting on linode (now part of akamai).

For domain registry stuff, I moved GoDaddy -> Namecheap a few years ago.

I can't speak for Namecheap hosting/mail, but the domain services have been sufficient.

Rob--

I moved one URL and mail in it to Namecheap some time ago. Good service so far, but I have not checked on their fees recently.

Thinking to check that out in the near future and maybe move all to them.

Both happen to be located in Phoenix, just as a side note of no importance.
