Which would you choose...and why? Photos give you extra credit. (Not really). Let's share our thoughts. Thanks, Stay Sharp, Capt. Chris PS: Not just "camping"..."hunting"...etc., etc... Example: RMK Model #27-5 3/4" below. CCS

Model 5-5" with the Bradford Angier options, in carbon steel. Been there and used mine since 1975

Pappy's choice is 100% perfect for what Brad used it for. He also "camped & Trailed" in the N.W. and Yukon territories..."not" the S.E in it's 100% humidity! Look: This thread is more information...&..."TRAFFIC"! Let's "all" voice an opinion. The TB that I posted was simply a "start-up" for this thread. Although it would make a pretty damned good multi-purpose "user"...there are equally as many "others" for a variety of chores. Bradford Angier's Model #5, with a 6 inch blade will "do" a helluva' lot. Let's show "more" do-all RMKs. Example below: #12-6", Little Bear Bowie... Stay Sharp, Capt. Chris

I have a few that I like. My Sergeants model is about perfect. SS, green micarta, and compass. I use it for trout fishing, camping, and all duck season. Another is my model 4 6 inch standard. I carried this knife all field season. It does everything I need it to do during the season. And if you want a big knife. My model 14 standard does the job. I will be carrying it again during this up coming bear season.

I have a 28 Woodsman in green micarta/brass. Its the one I grab when I am going anywhere outside. The combo of 3/16 stainless, lighter weight, durable micarta, and wrist thong make for a hard to beat knife for the outdoors.

If I could only choose one out of my meager collection, my choice would be my Model 15 that I got from the Captain. Mine has the SS blade with sawteeth, single finger grip green micarta handle with the single brass guard. I picked up a Spec-Ops nylon sheath for it. I like the 5-1/2" blade length as it is easy to carry, even when seated in a vehicle or in a kayak. I have tried the various grip styles that are available for the Model 15's and the single finger grip fits my hand the best. Got bit by the ' issue again.

This Nr. 15 would be my "one" Randall. It will do everything I would reasonably ask from a knife. And pretty too. Walnut burl Border Patrol handle, Nickel silver guard and butt cap. Waxed sheath.

Very attractive 15CDT.
Some ironwood is too plain, but yours is really nice.

Yes, I agree Larry, but this is Walnut burl. It doesn't darken with age, as Ironwood does.

Well, heck!
I coulda, shoulda read your post more carefully.
I still like it! Beautiful wood.
I tend to like ironwood, so when I saw your knife, it jumped right to the front of my mind.

Model #15's/CDTs fall under the radar most often but it's a great choice! A little more "Butch" than a Model #5, it would do well for a multitude of duties/chores. Here's one outta' my "Stash" that, once again, was ordered as a stock knife...years ago. Yeah...Right! Once I laid eyes on it...it was headed for The Captain's STASH! Greg Gutcher made me this natural leather hi-ride to go with it. The whole rig doesn't suck! Let's see more examples ( & more models) of your choice for an EDC! Stay, Sharp, Capt. Chris

Beautiful knife!
These 15CDT's do look a lot like Model 5's on steroids.

Of course, my 1st choice is a Model5-5" carbon steel Bradford since it was my 2nd Randall ordered in the fall of 1974 and received in the Spring of 1975. I am not a fan of the top blade sharpened, except for the Model 8 and 19 for specific duties. Also I like the Model 5 blade width and weight. It's been the best all around ,do it all, knife I've ever had in my 81 years on this earth.

Pap--
Understand about not wanting the top bevel sharpened.
Anyone wanting the heavier blade of the Model 15 can ask that the top bevel not be sharpened, otherwise it is done automatically on that model.
And agree that the Model 5 is a good all-around knife.
But there are just too many models to choose from, and all are good for what they are designed for.
