On the other hand...

Cold snaps are hard on the subtropical fish species.

Have seen them belly-up in the Indian River lagoon mornings after temperatures are in the 30's.

Larry,
I guess that the cold snaps do not bother the Snakehead fish there???

Wayne--

I haven't seen a snakehead.

This was a catch-and-release snook from last fall.

With the recent cold spell in Southern Florida and the Florida Keys, the Florida Wildlife is taking in stunned Iguanas. They will kill them humanely or forward them to processors. Two day period for turning in the Iguanas. Local Miami News interviewed a man with an armload of huge Iguanas like firewood.
Unfortunately the Pythons and Iguanas are starting to adapt and are burrowing into the ground as cold temps come around.

David,
I understand that the Burmese Pythons are now being found farther north than the Everglades now. As far as Lake Okeechobee???

A spring time dream trip for me would be to go on an Iguana hunt combined with a Burmese Python hunt and mix in a little Snakehead fishing

Wayne--

The guide measured the fish at 41-inches, but it might have qualified as longer since he only laid it on the ruler to show me it was much longer than the 33-inches maximum keeper length.

I was not interested in keeping it anyway, we were releasing everything.

It was of course not a record for snook, but when it had been landed the guide exclaimed "That is the fish of a lifetime!"

That was the only fish I caught that day, the son and granddaughter were catching jacks...up to the point when she hooked what was apparently a shark that nobody could haul to the boat, with the line finally cut by the fish.
