I contacted my "inside source" about the acorn nut on the wooden handle. He stated that it was a option, at the time.
I did not ask, if that is still an option on a non leather handled RMK today. Sorry I did not post my response.

Does having a name and date etched on a RMK knife reduce its sale price and saleability ?

That depends on the collector.
Some folks don't want someone else named on their knife.
Others do not care.
If it is someone famous, with provenance, it can enhance value.
I do not think in the overall resale market it makes much difference in value, but might make a difference in the speed of selling it.
