I am starting this thread for a couple of reasons:
A) Most important: A place for "everyone" affected by Helene to post their status, good, bad or indifferent...and let us know "what's what".
B) Because it was touched upon in the RKCC "club build" and that really isn't the proper location.
I'll start. As the crow flies (or hurricane winds blow) my SW Ocala, Fl. location is 30 miles from Cedar Key. Most, if you've followed the paths of the last couple of "big blows", know Cedar Key is in the hot zone.
I live in a gated community, consisting of 800 homes. Quite a few (including mine) received some minor damage. I lost a portion of my large cedar tree, some fence, one awning, etc. All is "doable" and I am able to take care of it without much "drama".
I want to thank "everyone" who has reached out to me throughout this ordeal. It has been well-received and a comfort to both The Lovely Elizabeth and this 'Ol Captain.
In my community (as best I can reconnoiter) there were 3 homes "lost", one home lost a room, dozens lost a roof, and various assorted "outside stuff", like me, damaged. Power was never lost, thanks to our underground utilities. The home losses were, most probably, tornado-related.
That's it from this Florida location. I hope we here from Buck (North Carolina)...The Mabry's (South Carolina) and all other in those states as well as Georgia, Tennessee, Kentucky, etc.
...............PLEASE.............Let us know how you fared!
Stay Sharp, Capt. Chris
PS: Please remember that this storm was still a player in Florida throughout a good portion of Friday as well...so it may take some time for folks to pipe in...CCS
