Hello everyone, I haven’t written here for a long time, there were a lot of different things to do. Now more or less freed. My friend and I started making slipjoints. He does the metal work, I do the drawings. Hopefully this will be implemented in a couple of weeks

We are very inspired by classic shapes, especially the knives of Tony Bose, Bill Ruple, Frank Centrofante, Jess Horn and of course the old Remingtons

I know there are a lot of classic folding knife collectors here. Here I do not have the opportunity to touch these knives in person, only photographs from the Internet and books. There is only the opportunity to look and touch ordinary knives and some old Solingen folders

I would like to ask for help, find out how the kick is made and the spring on them. I see that there are 3 most common spring shapes for slipjoints, I drew them here. It would be very interesting to know what form og the spring the masters adhere to. Also judging by the photographs of Tony Bose and Bill Ruple knives, it can be assumed that the kick is made as in the middle and lower figure with a dotted line, that is, it rests on on the flexible part of the spring, not on the flat area. My friend's concern is that it leaves a noticeable mark on the spring, like my Duok-Duok does. On the other hand, this arrangement provides stronger support for the blade and there is less chance that the blade will cut into the spring and become dull if you accidentally press on it inside the pocket with other things. I don't need exact dimensions, just the principle itself. I would really appreciate any thoughts smile

Chris Crawford has a list of Tutorials and one is the construction of a Bose Back Pocket Knife.
There might be some useful direction for your question there.

Thank you very much smile
I looked carefully at his website, but did not find this section. Looks like I missed it. Now everything is clear, which means he makes such springs without an additional platform above the shank

Thank you, I'm trying to adjust the knife movement, what the old collectors call "walk and talk" in the bladeforum thread about classic knives. It would be interesting to know about the differences in the force required to open the knife from position 1 to position 2, from 2 to 3, and vice versa on the knives of the best masters, since I do not have the opportunity to buy them and try it with my own hands. And some of the greatest masters have already left us (Tony Bose, AG Russell)

Small ones 210, large ones 225, + shipping. Here the handle is titanium, the spring is 440B, the blade is Elmax and maybe M398 in next batch. With parcel delivery it is difficult to find a reliable fast route now. Now I'm trying to find a way to do this. In general, due to the difficulty of delivery, I have not bought Randall for myself in the last few years as well as custom folding knives, so that one could understand more precisely what the sensations and efforts of movement should be. I still want to catch the original R1123 20-30s

The top four blades are 3 3/4, the bottom one is 3"
the thickness of the spine for all .134 (3.4 mm)

These are a bit more expensive because of the more expensive steel,
top down:
Trapper, M398 $315
Highlander, M398 $315
BananaJack, Elmax $245
Scagel Style, MagnaCut $295
Prowler, MagnaCut $285

ALL MEMBERS who this is germane to:
I'm not sure "why" I have been left in charge of the distribution...but I gotta' batch of folders here. Trouble is: "Someone" has opened all of them...Re-wrapped them differently...and I have "NO IDEA" who gets what. If you could post up and tell me, preferable with a photo of the exact model you ordered, I'll work on this over the next week.
The lovely Elizabeth has been to one Dr. already today..."2" yesterday...1 more today...1 on Friday...etc., etc. (That'll come 1st)
Please advise, thanks,

Captain I'm sorry for inconveniencing when you has more important things to do. Wishing Elizabeth a speedy recovery!
Rob, Mike, Lee sorry for this confusion. Unfortunately, the carrier himself unpacked the knives when he had to go through customs, put them in his pockets and backpack, then packed them back and it looks like he mixed up all the name tags

Captain Chris, thank you very much for great help! I very grateful to you smile

I hope you all enjoy the knives when you receive them!
Now testing the lockback mechanism

An old book from 1771 by M. Jean-Jacques Perret helped me a lot. It is in the public domain. Very interesting from the point of view of the development of the knife industry. There are wonderful illustrations at the end of the book

The handle is already ready, the mechanism has a backspring integrated into the rocker, like on the original R1306 1920's

Good deal Pappy. I had a delivery notice but of course no item. Georgia can not handle our mail worth a crap. So depressing. Off my rant now.
Congrats to those that received them so far.

Sorry to hear that. The postal service has been bad the last few weeks. My friend lost 2 packages of flashlights, he was sending one to Canada and one to Hawaii from Santa Fe. Both packages just disappeared and no one knows where they are. But I think everything should be fine now

It took "2 days" for shoot's knife to get from Ocala to Jax., Florida. (A 2 hour trip) & all these many more still "in the system". I shipped USPS "Priority" mail (2-3 days)...so much for that. Let's hope it shows up.

Finished slip Jimbo and Ti 1306 was tested and works well!

Large photos are here, because for some reason imgur is not working well today

Oh, and I'd love to hear from anyone who's received the knives, how do you like them, how well the mechanics work, the finish, etc.?

Great knives! I would like to order one like the one in the top photo, with the trapper profile and n690 on the blade.

Thank you for the kind words!
That is, the same 1306 handle with a lock and drop-point blade? I will write a PM

Another one was made, in a classic style:
- 3.97 closed
- stainless steel handle with integral bolsters
- stabilized mammoth scales
- Magnacut blade 3.15 x .134
- flush spring in all positions
- 5 oz

I put some of the photos here

We are currently working on a Jimbo and Trapper 3 1/3 " both (blade 85 mm) with a scissor spring lockback

Also planned is a 95mm Trapper,
for comparison Prowler next to them above on second photo

By the way, does anyone have a PDF or paper of the Remington C-5 catalog ?? 63 page , originally 1930, reprint 1966

I see some on eBay, at high prices.

Seller cornellpubs sells reprints of old catalogues, but I do not see the Remington listed on eBay. You might contact them and ask if they have it.

Now made 1306 in a more familiar form with wooden overlays. I don't know if it's possible to embed a video from Flickr here so that it plays inside the message

By the way, does anyone have a Case/Bose Lanny's Clip 2020 with a midlock or an original Remington 1306, to see the blade's behavior when it starts to unlock, what does it look like the most?
