You hit the nail on the head. Both my parents were "yellow dog democrats", in other words, they would vote for a yellow dog rather than vote for any Republican. I was, and still am, in the opposite spectrum. My folks and I had some interesting conversations over the years while they were still living, but it was always civil and we still hugged and kissed goodnight.
When I was running large cross country pipeline projects, I had many employees with various political views, and we too, had some interesting encounters, but when we socialized most Friday or Saturday nights, we each respected each other, and worked together. I hope that can be the case for this group. Remember, that no matter how we try, none of us are perfect in any way, nor are we right 100% of the time. Be nice.
