Hey John can you tell me how the leather fob in the thong hole was done. Or did it come that way.

Thanks Matt

Hi Matt
An old Coot in California showed me how to do that. What you do is put a 3/8" piece of leather through the hole. Punch a hole in one side and the offset another hole on the other side about 1/4”, punch three or four holes on both sides, then weave the leather threw each side. Make points on the leather to get threw hole. When done cut the points off. Hope this helps, a key point is getting the right leather…I want to call it Latigo, but I am not sure about that.

Hi John, At last I'm replying to some of your hard work that you have all put into this site. As you know I am a Bose fan! I have two back pocket knives in ivory by Tony which he tells me to use!! I love the stag on your one in the pictures. I also collect antique Sheffield knives which covers a multitude! Keep up the good work and have a happy, healthy and prosperous 2006.

Thanks Colin, Keep those BPs sharp and carry one of them. Can you carry a knife like that in the UK?

Hi JPN, Yes gotta keep it sharp or as you know you can injure yourself if the blade is blunt. Unlawfull use of knives is common in some parts here, almost every day ie stabbings although not where I live fortunately. You have to have 'lawfull authority' and 'reasonable excuse' it can't be a lcokback and the blade has to be no longer than 31/4". I can carry a straight knife to and from a stalking trip but if I called into a bar on the way home with that type of knife on my belt, I'd be in trouble. There have been some high profile murders here ie of a scholl head teacher which does not do anything to help knife collectors. When I lived in Scotland as a lad I always had two knives, a pen knife and a straight knife.
