I thought Delrin as well, but seller had it listed as Ivorite.

Did a search and this from Perry Miller came up-

Too good of a thread to let die...I'll start again with a question.

The shop used Delrin as a handle material for a short period of time. In those years they referred to it as Ivorite. It was not the imitation ivory that was marked. So let me hear your thoughts on the subject.

Might sound silly, but Delrin has a distinctive “feel” to it, unlike ivorite, IMO !!

The "imitation ivory that was marked" Perry is referring is Alternate (or Alternative) Ivory. It looked much more like real ivory than any of the ivorites and that is why the shop etched the blade, A/I, so no one could try and pass it off as the real thing.

Delrin was in use for probably 5 years or so. It was around longer than most think. I have had seven spacer knives and three thick two think spacer knives in Delrin.

I would say probably from around 66/67-71/72 or so.

I once had a "SS" stamped model 7 in Delrin, but attribute that to a "deep bin" knife if you will.

You note the change to Westinghouse micarta, as the very earliest examples have 7 spacers, with very few examples out there, but you see only limited use of the Westinghouse material in the three thick two thin period, 73-76/77. The micarta shows up in more quantity in the thick center spacer period say from 76-77 onward. It is only my thought, that Bo knowing the Delrin was unsatisfactory, was always looking for a better mouse trap, and got some samples of the Westinghouse material in to try. Exhausted that limited supply and eventually settled on it.

Here is a Gail White Model 5. There is a W just to the right of the Randall Stamp.

Rod -

It is my understanding is that White got knives completed with hilt installed, and he simply installed handles.

I am a woodsman, and I do love my Woodsman. Randall hit a homerun with the #28; blade length, stainless steel, full tang, border patrol handle - it naturally becomes an extension of your hand. Talk about a well balanced fixed blade. Besides that, I truly like how it rides in front of the S&W Governor on my strong side, which is especially important on snowshoes pulling a sled.
