Having never been to the Blade Show, I'm pumped and ready for the big one in Atlanta. Many folks may not know what happens with the knives that Tony and Reese take to the show. I have heard bits and pieces of what goes down at the Bose table. It's been the buzz at the Blade Show for years and also was written about in Blade Magazine.

So what REALLY happens at the table? I'll start with what I know, which isn't much. I'm sure others will add what they know and then we will all know the "lowdown in Showtown".

Tony and Reese each take anywhere from 10-12 knives to sell. Due to the demand for their knives, they would probably sell those in about 20 minutes.

Instead of having a brawl at the table and creating instant and short lived chaos, they have opted to eliminate the brawls and control the chaos by way of lottery or drawing.

You decide which knife you want to buy and write your name on a blank business card provided at the Bose table. The cards begin to pile up next to the knives. The exitement builds. The tension mounts.

At different times during the show, a drawing is announced and a small mob gathers near the table. The cards are put in something and a random person is selected to draw a card. The name of the lucky winner is announced and that person can purchase the knife. The winner gets the opportunity to buy a Bose knife.

The first time I heard about this process, it sounded very odd to me. The more I thought about it, the more I realized that Tony and Reese aren't machines that can crank out hundreds of knives. Each knife is not only a tool to be used but it is a genuine work of art. Because their knives are unique and special and rare, they are valuable.

At the Blade show, It is common to hear about a newly purchased Bose knife "changing hands" at least 2 more times after the initial drawing sale. Many dealers participate in the drawings at the chance to make a quick and easy return on their initial investment. Winning the chance to buy a Bose knife directly from Tony or Reese cuts out the middle man. This is a considerable savings and it all adds up to some serious excitement when your name is called.
