I'm planning a 2-feet x 4-feet display case, loaded with eight of the large knives. The fellow who is building the case plans to put a lock on it, and to include supports to elevate it at an angle, with the supports to be C-clamped to the table.

It will be a bit much to haul to-and-from the car, but that sounds like the best course to avoid loss or damage.
