Yes because I call the business end of a normal screwdriver a "blade". So, that is definitely a blade. Oops...almost forgot....AWESOME IMAGE JOHN!

I'd say like the old wooden cigar boxes -- though I think there were many other things that were similarly packed way back then.

I'd say your right on the money. It would be interesting to see some old boxes other than cigars.. I assume they used a paper seal and a small nail…maybe a little glue
