If anyone does It's probably Rod.
Just one additional thought. With a brass hilt you get a brass crows beak. With nickel silver hilt, you get a duraluminum hilt. I voted for NS "but" all brass looks better than mixed metals to me anyway. What do you guys think?

That's gonna be a tough sell, The Capt. is NOT a fan of back tracking....

I mentioned the 22 handle a while back and I believe we can do that in duraluminum without an extra charge. That would match the NS hilt and still give us 1 more option like wrist thong or aluminum/black spacers. Cap may have to confirm.

The 22 handle idea is intriguing. Does the butt cap use up the last option?

Why put a 22 handle on a model 5?? NOT a fan, a radiused butt cap would look better to me, but that's just my opinion.

Finger grips, #14 or R/L handed, make sense on figured wood to me.

Eric, if we really could do that we should be building the Capt Chris Camper: it a Model 5 with unlimited potential.

OK...Ok..."STOP"!! I just got home and this is giving me a headache! Let's address some of this and then we can (hopefully) move on.
Warren: 1st off: What "lots of extras" do you get with a #22 handle? A #22 handle shape, like a border patrol or single finger grip is "one option"...with nothing else! If you order Randall Model #22-4 5/8" you get:
* Stainless
* Thumb notches
* Nickel silver single hilt
* Red, white & blue spacers
* Black micarta handle
* Duralumin crows beak butt cap
* Tan sheath, with hone pocket...You "also" pay: $485.00 for it.
A Model #5-6" costs $385.00. I've said this before, "but" (I know) I'll say it again: "EVERYTHING ELSE" is extra and an option! The only exception is a commando-shaped handle. So far we have:
* #5-6"
* Stainless steel (Option #1)
* Sawteeth (Option #2)
* Nickel silver single hilt (Option #3)
* Squared top hilt (N/C)
* Thumb notches (N/C)
We have "2" options left.
Jim: This is not a club build. Any "forum" member can join in and participate..."BUT"...(Can't help myself)...even if it were a club build..."5 OPTION LIMIT"! No exceptions!
OK: Are we clear, so far? If the answer is "yes"...Let's move on. A #22 shaped handle would be "OPTION #4". A leather handle is standard on a Model #5-6", so "ANY" other handle material would use up the last (OPTION #5) available option.
Now then: "Crow's Beak Butt Cap? That would be "OPTION #6". I think I know what Warren meant by his earlier suggestion, perhaps not, but I'll give it a "go". If we built our #5 and wanted a (let's just say for example) bone linen handle. That's "OPTION #4), right? If we did not request a #22 handle..."BUT"...(Man: This is more than a "trend")...we requested a duralumin crows beak butt cap on our bone linen handle..."OPTION #5"...we would get the #22 handle shape "included", because a crows beak butt cap is only installed on a #22 styled handle shape...."EXCEPT"...for stag handles. Stag handles maintain their original shape, more or less. Some slight modifications may be required...but you get the idea...
OK, Crew: You "do" get the idea...right? Let me hear from you if you have any questions...and thanks for all the input. I have to be more careful what I ask for. A lotta' stuff since this morning when I departed for the Randall shop!
Best, Capt. Chris
PS: Some wooden handles look just fine without handle shaping and, don't forget, we could get a commando-shaped handle without using an option...CCS
PPS: Model #22, with incredible amber stag from The Captain's Stash!

SORRY Cap didn't mean to muck it up. Was just thinking that the 22 handle has more options not chargeable.

Well I'm not sorry. ;-). One of the benefits of these builds is asking and learning. Another benefit is driving the Captain crazy trying to herd the cats.

I do have one Warren. If I get time I'll post a pic tomorrow.
