A General Westmoreland copy would be interesting. Maybe it had sawteeth too.

A patriotic etched phrase would cover that part on any knife (except a Stoddards)

hunter/fighter, hunter/fighter, hunter/fighter. they are both great. to me the only difference is a double hilt from a fighter to a hunter. but the sawteeth on a hunter is super cool. Cut It Out's model 14 is really cool, and the single hilt with the right options makes a great hunter and a great camp knife. same with the model 5. but teeth in both just makes it better.

I'm still feeling that the hot choice for the "go big or go home" summertime build would be a 12-9" #14 grind bowie. And it's just got to have the #25 handle for that retro feel (which also mixes the best of the Randall handle designs...leather and stag).

I also like the Model #5 fighter idea, though it is a distant 2nd choice for me.

It sounds like everyone wants teeth if a Model #5 is chosen. Are they still offered as an option? Not according to the website.

#12-9" #14 grind, #25 handles grow on trees... and can just be ordered. The fun and option placement is taken out of the build by just taking something standard.

Different options like fighter #5's or even a #12-9" or 6" sportsman would leave open adding options along the way, and result in something not seen every day.

Guess I could get behind a stainless 12-9, but I'm thinking some crown stag would be right up Tell Sackett's alley (mine too). A NS #1 style hilt with some silver and black spacers would do it.

The difference in a model 1 and a #5 fighter is the five is not dished out on the spine just forward of the hilt. With a 5 fighter you actually lose some of the functionality of Lt. Zacharias' fighting grip. However, ( and I'm sure the Cap'n or someone will correct me if I'm wrong) a 5-5 can be had with sawteeth, a 1-5 no longer can.

I love the M25 handle. However, from everything that I have read about Bowies and their popularity, if you want to go "retro" i.e. original users/makers, then the proper handle would be a concave walnut one. I fully understand that there isn't 100% consensus on this but it is the theory that seems to be the most popular.

Neither the 1-5 or the 5-5 can come with the ST option...when ordered as such, we offer the substitute of the Combat Companion...
