Just some food for thought.
Besides the pictures side by side, don't forget that there are many new collectors that you’re not going to get a higher bid from unless you educate them on your auction site. Plus with all the scams going on if you don't sell on ebay enough to either be known or if your feed back is low you'll need to get someone else to sell for you or you won't get any bids!!

What Ron said.

By the way, when Rick was talking about the guys who know what's what in Randalls, he, Ron (Bo Blade) and Mitch (Tunefink) are way up the top of that list on knowledge and ethics. Steer clear of the guys who want to buy it from you before you expose it for sale to the real secondary market. I call them sharks but other people have more colorful names for them.

Does anyone know what this #14 (heavy) would be worth?

I guess I will be the one to stick my neck out here. I talked to a couple of knowledgable Randall sellers and we thought the knife might bring as much as $1,500.00 if it is mint. On eBay, who knows, as it sometimes does not represent the real world. The real world being, trying to get the money across the table at a knife show.

And yes, pictures would be nice so as to continue teaching Randall Lore here.

Regards,

Rhett

Neil,

As a follow up, and getting back to the original question; since my last post I've spoken with two advanced collectors with over 50 years combined RMK collecting between them...

Collector A 'has' a Model #14 heavy, and stated that while roughly 100 blades were made as you alluded to, he thinks that the number shipped was actually closer to 35. As to value, he 'guesstimated' maybe $1000, but doesn't know, as he has never sold a Randall knife once purchased...

Collector B collects Model #14's almost exclusively, and doesn't own a Model #14 'heavy'...when I asked about the $1000 price given, he simply said (paraphrased) "No, I wouldn't pay that much..."

I stand by my original comment that I don't have a clue as to value, and as you can see from the posts above, others have their own idea of what it's worth...FWIW, if it went to eBay, however, my top bid would likely be in the high six-hundred dollar range...

A cool knife certainly, and fairly rare too. Good luck

Sheldon, roughly when were the "Heavies" shipped?

Were any CDT's?

An item...any item is only worth what someone is willing to pay for it. I stand by my original comment that the only place to get the best price for it is eBay. Since we're all just guessing here, $1500.00 sounds like a nice round number. IAWN

I guess if a stock 14 would bring near $500.... a rare and special #14 should bring at least $600.

I'll go $602....

Isn't this revealing, that after all, RMKI is just a custom, hand-made shop.

Another forum is calling RMK a "factory", and putting down it's knive.

Can you imagine a Toyota being made out of steel that is 20% heavier than it was supposed to be?
