It does look a bit like a cleaver actually, but the blade is so "tall" that the concave grind should offer a nice thin edge?

It's the same stock thickness as my #3, and that bad boy gets mighty sharp with little effort!

The carving set is nice...

I have one as well, and agree with Peter....it's a little thick for my needs, therefore it see's little use....The 10's get used more often.

I have, and use, a RMK Chef's knife.
It may be a bit of an extravagance, but as a fan of knives, (Randall's most specifically) I like having the right tool for the task at hand. The Chef's model does that, and how can you go wrong, it's a Randall!
I will hasten to add, the handle of the Chef's knife is unique and very ergonomic. I wish it was an option on some other models.
Including a Model 10 to the kitchen cutlery selection is a terrific idea. I would appreciate it if RMK would consider offering that model in a modified "Wharncliffe" grind. Even in the 3" variant, it would be a most utilitarian configuration. A high-end, modern Sloyd knife for the craftsman or workman.

The "wharnie" is a most underestimated blade grind, I agree.

Good that you commented on the ergonomics too!

Those electric things never became a big hit here in Sweden, I thought it was an aid for the disabled to be honest...

No offence!

Two #10's.......a5" & a 7" have lived in my kitchen along with an old Rudy Ruana 7" filet knife for years now. The Ruana blade is much thinner so more flexible & all thin slice anything I want. My wife has even gotten used to my slipping two in my saltwater tackle box the 1-2 times per year that I hit N. Carolina's Outer Banks....
Just says "leave my big Randall here."

I owned a Chef's knife. If I were doing more Chef's type food preparation I would have used it more. My daughter is the Chef in the family. So the knife is gone now. I am happy it has a new home. The quality was outstanding, as expected, on the knife and agree a very nice handle design.

Good choice. About 25 years ago, this knife was in use in the kitchen every day. That is, until my wife put it in the dishwasher a few times. After that, I "retired" it and bought her a cheaper knife.
