As always, your pictures are the best. Both are excellent, but I think the detail in the newer one is a little better. Great Job!!

Both scans are more than acceptable. However, I think the new scanner is a tad better than the old. Just my opinion.

Nuge..You will have to send the knives to me and I will set up a test to ensure that the best possible pic will be achieved .. Yea Right!! They are both great pics..But the older pic looks to have a sharper image. The stamp looks more clear. JM2cents.

Funny you would say that...After I read your post it kinda turned on a light bulb so to speak. Before I did that first pic I used a permanent marker and was able to darken up the stamps...makes a huge difference. Just rub it all over with a pen, let it sit for a min, then rub off with a tissue.

Anyone else notice the light source angle is different between the two? It's probably just the way you positioned the knives on the bed, but I like the one on the newer scanner better. BUT...the blades actually look better on the older scanner.

Do you touch up the images in any way or is that the raw image off of the scanner? Anywho...the images are great on both.

You're right about the positions of the knives. Its only been 2669 days, 16 hours, 30 minutes since I did that scan.

Check it out, I did my watch, notice the second hand

I guess the best way to really compare is to use same knife and at same time, same background. I will get on that!
Anyone have a pattern request?

I like the new scanner, John. The old one always looked great, but in the comparison, the detail on the stag blows away the old one. Usually watch second hands come out looking bent or curved in scans and pics when the watch is running.

Mr. N,
which would you rather drive...a Bentley or a Rolls Royce?
Both of your pics are just breath-taking!
Thanks So Much!

John,
We bought a HP 4C scanner (SCSI). I can't seem to find an adapter that will make it work with a USB. Any suggestions???

Sorry to say but I don’t think its going to work. It's setup for the older SCSI port; you can buy a card that comes with a cable for that. But the cable is not USB, its a funky clip plug that is very proprietary...Bad situation if you ask me.

I am sorry to say I don’t have the link to that card and cable...I did do a search on Google but did not see

I would look forward to new technology. The HP 3055 I have works much better and it is USB
