The TV show Naked and Afraid on May 17 featured a Behring made kukri that the male member of the duo (Trenton Harper) brought with him to the hills of India.

The show was interesting because Trenton kept not wanting to let the female co-star use his knife!

She fell into what I called "knife envy" as she repeatedly commented about the situation, while Trenton could have simply explained to her that he didn't want her to use the knife for digging, and cautioned her on how to use it safely if he felt this was a concern.

Anyway, this added an element of entertainment as they eventually worked through this issue and completed the full 21-day ordeal.

We had a lot of fun at this premier as well Larry!

Trenton rented out a local theater and had about 200 folks come and watch the episode with him. I was joined by my lady and the rest of the guys from the shop, James, Travis and our new addition Kyle.

What was funny is how she was siding with the female survivalist (girl power, go figure), but I pointed out that in this particular case the kukri wasn't the tool, but the tool-maker and that it was the most important and necessarily protected item they could have.

Nothing ruins your day faster than chips in the cutting edge- especially when it happens from mis-use.

The good news is that Trenton still has not asked us to touch the edge or anything else- it's still sharp!!

An additional side note:

The producers and editors really do a lot to create the show, primarily in the editing room. In the episode, Trenton doesn't seem to do that great with food gathering, until he traps a dove and seems to be riding high morale from then on til the end, but the reality is that they ate every single day whether it was frogs, insects or berries.

Trenton is one hell of a survivalist, and we look forward to seeing what he does with his new found national credibility to his skill set. Many of the survivalists go on to open their own schools, and we're already in the design stages of the Trenton Harper Special.
