While looking for something else (ain't that the way it always goes?) I found the old Boy Scout knife I had gone on and on about in the Model 7 Build thread.

The blade would be 4" long if I hadn't broken off the tip using it as a pry bar (lernin' the hard way), the handle is 3.650" long. A brass hilt and aluminum Crow's Beak butt cap and the leather handle are what I will order for the Randall I want to get to duplicate this as best as I can.

I have been thinking that a #7 - 4 1/2" with a #6 grind would look good and give as close as possible a blade shape that isn't too far off.

Unfortunately, the #5 - 4" can't be had with a leather handle, besides the blade shape isn't quite right either.

Does anybody have any suggestions that would be a better choice?

I love that old stuff like that. I have boxes of old knives, they seem to follow me home. 7-4 1/2 should look close to the knife like the old Western you have. That was made in Boulder CO before it turned all liberal. Number 6 grind is great.

That looks just like my old Boy Scout "Sheath" knife with the tip missing!!!!
I'll have to see if I can dig it out.
Think I broke the tip throwing into a tree.

I don't know where the sheath for it is, long gone I guess.

You did seem to get what I had in mind in the Model 7 Build thread Tony. I bet a lot of these knives have broken tips. Hahahahaha

The #7 would be the right way to go.
