I wanted to ask the forum if there are some indicators
whether an black RBJ sheath was dyed in the field
or done by Johnson/Randall. I don't have
any photos at the moment but the sheath
in question is brown on the back, inside the
throat and the underside of the keeper strap.
In other words these areas were not dyed black.

Thanks

Jon

That would be a field job......

Everything you mentioned should be black.

If there is brown (or tan) showing anywhere, it would be the first I've ever seen (That was properly dyed at Johnson's...that is).
Example: British Commandi knife, sold at the Randall shop in a Johnson (split loop) black sheath.
Best, Capt. Chris

Thanks Capt and Tune. I could post a link to that auction site but I can't remember if that is permitted or not. It has to be a home dye job then. Obviously it will affect the value of the knife but it was an okay deal anyway.
