It's a myth some says it's because it's easier to take the blade fast off the body after hitting it with blood grove.
I know my old granpa when he lived said the Finns did the blade tip dull before going to action in the forrest against the russian soldiers ww2. He said the blade stuck in to the bones if the blade tip was to sharp and them had no time for that in close combat.
