I notice different patterns (other than the ones listed at the top of the forum as TB Case Coll. Knives) for sale on Ebay and other places. They say they are limited number runs and therefore rare. Is this true and are there multiple collab. Case patterns for each year that TB started working with Case?

I believe they started in 1999 and only one design was issued per year. If this is in error... please correct me!

There is one Case/Bose knife per year, and some in that run have different handle material. (Bone, Stag, Pearl & Abalone)

There are two production knives, the Sowbelly and Saddlehorn. Some of these knives are made in limited runs called SFOs (Special Factory Orders) I think. There are so many to keep track of and it would be next to impossible to collect them all. Knife clubs from all over the place can contract these as well as big dealers that want something special.

Hope this answers your question

Also, all of the yearly Tony Bose/Case collaboration knives have ATS-34 blades, and I'm pretty sure all these knives have ATS-34 on the tang.

Yep, I would love to see them get serious and try to step up to D2

Thanks for the info. The way I understand it now is that there are the collaboration knives and there are the catalog knives/SFO's

I was bidding on a antique bone handled saddle horn 2005 knife yesterday and it ended at $152. The claim was that it was 1 of 100 made as indicated by the bowtie shield inlay. I let it go because I wasn't sure about that particular claim.

I think the claim may have been real and the knife was a 1 of 100. Like I said there are so many 1 of 100’s and Knife Club knives that it would be very difficult to get them all (if that was your goal) or to even have a list of them all. I don’t know if Case offers a service or a list of all the SFO’s produced because they may change on a daily basis.

Thanks for sharing the information. I very recently started actively collecting knives and I am just now learning about the Case/Bose relationship. That probably sounds a bit weird in this forum.

I understand lots of people try to figure out what kind of knife will be good to buy that will increase in value so they can get a good return in their investment. The problem with that philosophy is that it's nearly impossible to guess what will increase in value. I'm going to go with what a wise man told me; "Buy what you like. That way, if it doesn't increase in value you won't be mad because you'll still have something you like."
