If the brass hits you in the head when you shoot it, you'll need the new extractor and ejector.

Here is a quote from a Glock Forum member:

"I own a gen 4 G17, and I just bought a gen 4 G34, both guns runs flawlessly. I have shot other Gen 4's also...they also ran flawlessly. I also used to own a Springfield XDm 4.5 inch 40S&W, which funny enough I traded for a Gen 3 G22. I took it out, shot it about 100 times, put it back in its box, and then traded it for an AK74. The M&P series from S&W is really nice, throw a Burwell / Apex trigger in one and they feel unbelievable, the XDm is WAY over rated IMO, the open striker system / loaded chamber indicator is a good way to ensure a short life for your gun and also lacks reliability due to dirt creeping inside. And the grip feels like you're holding a stick instead of a gun IMO. But both guns, good or bad, are in fact inspired by Glock. The Gen 4 is just one more example of Glock getting it right. Glock reliability is world renowned. The words "Glock Perfection" are not just an advertising ploy, they got it right and have been improving on right since Gen 1. Glock is the number 1 DA only pistol in the world. I do not see them being dethroned anytime in the near future."

What would you expect from a guy that just bought Gen 4's? Of course they are gong to be the best. Of course they are going to run flawlessly. He wants them to be that.

Go on some forums where "professionals" give their opinions based on hard use, not some fanboi telling you how wonderful it is after he ran 100 rds through it. Try the 10-8 forum, you may find some stuff there. Or M4Carbine.net, there is some discussion there. Just use the search function.

Ironic the guy you quote says the XD "grip feels like you're holding a stick instead of a gun IMO". He must not have tried a Glcok 21.

There is actually a good thread at 10-8 forums on a "fix" for the issues that are with the newest Glocks, both Gen 3 and 4.

While certain gun forums are a good source of information, Pappy, I think you should just take it out and shoot it. If it malfs or fails in anyway, then get diagnosed and fixed.

My plan exactly. I received my Force grips and will install tomorrow. I might even get to shoot it on Sunday. I was hoping to get my Truglo sights in and installed but they haven't showed up yet.

A lot of guys get all wrapped around the axle when it comes to Internet heresay. My theory (not that it means much) is that unless I see it first hand, I tend to take it with a grain of salt unless i know the persons directly giving the information. For example; I used to shoot Kimber 1911's, my early Kimber 1 was a great gun. I sold it to a friend and ended up with one of the LAPD SWAT models. Problems ensued and I deemed it unfit for my uses and the pistol was sold off as a fun gun to a relative. Fast forward a few years; I was in a 2 day advanced pistol course and witnessed 2 separate high dollar Kimber pistols go down with multiple issues. Combine that first hand experience with, information from guys I know that have shared issues (to include a handful of very experienced Operators) and DOCUMENTED evidence from various LEO agencies is enough evidence for me to never bother with them. That's me, others may have a different view.

Well, my Truglo sights showed up yeaterday, so a gunsmith friend installed them along with the "long" version of the Force grips(it came with a short and long version). After a shot or two we had the sights tuned in. This 9mm is a blast to shoot, no extractor problems, empty's go to the right, not in my face. I can shoot a 2" group at 35 yards and 4" at 75 yards. Can't beat that for me anyway. No jams after 200 rounds and the Truglo sights work super. Also, the Force grip is mucho comfortable and really the way to go on a Glock IMHO. Makes it point much nicer than the standard grip. So far I think I made a great choice. I'll post some pics later this week. Thanks for everyone's comments good or bad as it all was interesting reading.

I'm glad it turned out well and you like it!

I enjoy shooting my Glock 19 quite a bit. I traded in a Para-Ordnance P13 .45 for it a few years ago, and 9mm is a lot cheaper to shoot!!!

Yes, that's one reason I wanted a 9mm. I have a Ruger P-90 .45 and it shoots like a dream but the ammo prices keep me from shooting it much. I have recently found www.ammunitiontogo.com and they not only have great prices, but they actually have it in stock!! I have tried some of the more known catalog ammo dealers and they are always out of stock on the larger volumes. Ammo To Go has always had what I needed and their prices are as good or better than anyone else I found.

I buy ammo from them too. They usually have the carry ammo I like, Speer Gold Dot 124 Gr. +P, but they are out right now. They do have the Federal LE Tactical HST 124gr. +P in stock though, which is just as good.
