Yes, the old Randall sheath will definitely get wet. I would love to see this type of sheath offered again.

I sat down and compared my Flipper sheath to the waxed sheath that came with my latest 16, as well as my nylon Combat Master sheath to a Blackhawk sheath. Overall, the Flipper is my favorite, followed by the Combat Master. Both are very versatile.
