Dubie,no "L". It is a Johnson rough back with the Randall logo across the width of the back and a bit low in my opinion. Then "4 6" stamped just below the logo.Really a very interesting knife. I really enjoy the model 4s and my real favorite are the Bowles knives,I find the Bowles hunter to be most functional for skinning large animals and I like my old Model 26 for caping. I am of the opinion that all Randalls are superb instruments for using and collecting. I love the discussions about the pros and cons and get a kick out of guys "high doggin" each other.Oh well that's the best part of the Randall mystique on this forum. The passion displayed is what motivates me and for that I am grateful. My thanks to all who appreciate the craftmanship and history of Randall knivemakers past and present. The Randall legacy is awesome.
